Mohammed Mohyedin

Experience, leadership and international perspective

Mohammed Mohyedin is a Canadian community leader, public affairs professional, telecommunications specialist, and journalism student at Toronto Metropolitan University whose experience spans strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, international relations, business development, and community leadership. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of International Communications Media Centre (ICMC Ltd.), where he supports international partnership development, strategic communications, and trade engagement initiatives connecting stakeholders across Canada, Africa, and the Middle East.

Through this work, he has supported international engagement efforts involving Global Affairs Canada, the Trade Commissioner Service, diplomatic representatives, business leaders, and regional stakeholders exploring opportunities in sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, technology, media, tourism, and economic development.

Professionally, Mohammed brings more than a decade of experience in retail operations, customer engagement, and business development, including experience within Canada’s telecommunications industry since 2021 supporting consumer, small business, and enterprise clients through multi-carrier mobility, internet, and communications solutions. His experience spans sales, stakeholder management, solution consulting, client relationship management, and business development.

As Founder and Chair of House of Neighbors, Mohammed led a COVID-19 food security initiative that supported more than 2,000 residents across Toronto and York Region in partnership with local school boards and with the support of the City of Toronto Emergency Operations Centre. He also organized public housing town halls in collaboration with tenants, community organizations, and municipal stakeholders that contributed to efforts resulting in the transfer of tenant homes from municipal ownership to a nonprofit community land trust model, helping protect long-term housing affordability for residents.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mohammed worked to develop collaborative models between community organizations and major Canadian police services focused on youth engagement, mental health awareness, and community safety initiatives. While these efforts were disrupted by the pandemic, they helped shape his ongoing commitment to partnership-building across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. During the pandemic, he completed a 70-kilometre run through challenging winter conditions in support of a woman from Niagara-on-the-Lake battling metastatic breast cancer, raising awareness for her journey and demonstrating his commitment to community service beyond traditional advocacy.

His background in journalism has strengthened his expertise in research, reporting, stakeholder consultation, development, and international engagement efforts that bring together government, private-sector, and civil society stakeholders. Mohammed has also been actively involved in civic engagement and grassroots organizing, working alongside elected officials, community leaders, diplomatic representatives, and public institutions to strengthen community participation and build collaborative solutions to local and international challenges. His work focuses on creating partnerships that advance economic opportunity, social impact, international cooperation, and sustainable development across communities and regions.
